Pay rise for early childhood educators and teachers
We did it! Educators and teachers in eligible services will receive a government-funded 15% pay rise, following negotiations led by It Takes A Village and other representatives
Following many years of advocacy and months of negotiation, in August 2024 the Australian Government committed to fund a 15% pay rise for educators and teachers!
The wage increase is also known as the Worker Retention Payment and provides funding to eligible services to pass on a 15% increase on Award wages to early childhood and OSHC staff.
For the 200,000+ educators who are now receiving it, the pay rise has the potential to be life-changing. For early childhood providers, in its first year the wage increase has meant a 25% decrease in staff vacancies.
