An Authorised Officer (AO) should always behave professionally and you will never put yourself or your service at risk by speaking up.
If you disagree with an AO and want to challenge them on something, you can ask them to point out in the law or regulations where the breach is. You can then provide additional information to clear up any misunderstanding during the visit.
Shortly after a compliance visit, you should receive a letter outlining which areas of the law and regulations were contravened.
You can respond to this, highlighting how it was rectified or what you were already doing to meet this regulation or law.
AOs must always uphold the public sector values of your state or territory and are subject to a code of conduct.
If you are unhappy with an AO’s conduct, you can make a direct or anonymous complaint by calling your local regulatory authority.
